Dr. Karen O’Leary is a post-doctoral researcher at National University of Ireland, Galway, under the mentorship of Dr Sharon Glynn. Karen’s research focuses on 3D modelling of the prostate cancer microenvironment, with a particular focus on the role of mesenchymal stem cells. She is also interested in the isolation and culture of circulating prostate cancer cells from blood. Karen received her PhD in 2014 from the University of Sussex in the UK, following completion of a translational project on lung cancer epigenetics. Prior to this, she completed an MSC in Biomedical Science at Edinburgh Napier University, and also spent time working as a Research Assistant in Haematology at the University of Cambridge, UK.
