Epidemiology

I have been working on both neuroepidemiology (e.g., amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and cancer epidemiology (e.g., prostate cancer) during the last few years, mostly based on the Swedish population and health registers. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is the topic of my PhD thesis work at the Karolinska Institutet and during my postdoc work, I expanded my research interest to cancer epidemiology, where we started to examine the unrecognized health consequence of cancer diagnosis, especially prostate cancer diagnosis. Currently, we are also studying the potential impact of psychological stress on cancer progress, for example, looking at loss experiences (e.g., loss of a ignificant other after cancer diagnosis) and prostate cancer prognosis. We further aim to examine potential biological mechanisms underlying such association, if observed.
