Molecular Biology

Dr. Orla Casey is a molecular biologist whose research interests lie in the determinants of prostate cancer progression. She received her BSc from University College Cork and her PhD, conducted in collaboration with Teagasc, from the National University of Ireland Galway. Subsequent to her PhD, she worked at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland and developed a mouse model of the prostate cancer fusion TMPRSS2-ERG. She returned to Ireland in 2013 and currently works with Professor Stephen Finn where she investigates molecular aberrations linked to drug resistance in prostate cancer and works on several prostate clinical trial protocols including iProspect.
