Molecular Biology

Cecilia is an MD with an MSc degree in Medical Molecular Biology, and has just started a clinical epidemiology PhD focusing on clinical outcomes for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. She will approach this topic by looking at treatment-related outcomes: 1) Radiotherapy and the risk of thromboembolic and cardiovascular complications; 2) Usefulness of trans-perineal biopsies in identifying those men suitable for active surveillance, as well as disease-related outcomes: 1) Biomarkers for the prediction of secondary primary tumours; 2) Effect of diabetes and its treatments on prostate cancer death.
